Urinary Tract Infection - UTIs
Due to new guidelines, your GP is no longer the first port of call for urine infections (UTI). If you are female and aged 16-65 and think you may have a UTI you should now contact your Pharmacy first where they will assess you and provide necessary treatment. If you have blood in your urine, are pregnant or have diabetes you still need to see a GP.
The practice has a protocol to follow as dip testing samples in the surgery does not give the clinical information required. A sample may need to be sent to the labs at the hospital but before doing so this must be actioned by a clinician- DO NOT hand in a sample unless you have been asked to do so by a clinician.
